Nutritional Aspects Raspberry liquorice contains mostly carbohydrate in the form of sugar, with some protein and little fat or other micronutrients. Liquorice root has been used in ancient remedies in the treatment of liver complaints as well as in anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic, laxative, anti-depressive, anti-ulcer and anti-diabetic situations (38). However, liquorice in this form does not contain significant enough quantities of the actual root to have a therapeutic effect. Raspberry liquorice contains wheat flour and artificial colours so is not suitable for those avoiding gluten or additives.
