Water….we all know how important it is, some studies say our body's are up to 80% water. Which makes ensuring we get enough water critical! But let's talk turkey, we have plenty of excuses for why we don't drink enough water but mostly it just comes down to lack of discipline and planning. We are all human and sometimes forget to do the thinks we know are good for us, what can we do to give ourselves the best chance of succeeding?
Let's use the water example. You are heading out for the day, you have errands to run, kids to taxi, meetings and a gym session in the afternoon. One simple piece of preparation on the way out the door that morning can make all the different to your water intake. Simply pick up your water bottle, fill it with water and put it in your bag! If it's a nice big one that should get you through until you make it to the gym and you'll feel better for it.
I know for me the first place it shows when I don't drink enough water is in my skin. As soon as I see those little lines between my eyebrows I know I have not been drinking enough water lately. Sometimes I miss my internal warning signs like a slight pressure in my forehead and a bloated type sensation in my stomach. So once the skins screams out I know it's time to hydrate big time! Personally to do things like adding Himalayan salt to my water to help the hydration process - that works for me. I also like to mix it up and add some flavour to my water like lemon essential oil (make sure it's one that is safe to consume, it should say so on the bottle), some fruit pieces or even steep some chamomile tea and add it cold with ginger. There are so many ways to make water more interesting if you struggle with plain water. You can experiment and try different things and see what works for you!
