Focus on the long game and what’s sustainable and realistic in your lifestyle (will you really go to the gym 5 days a week or eat 100% home cooked meals) and sees you move to a place where you feel comfortable in your own skin. Perfection is unachievable and makes us feel bad when we don’t achieve it.
How about instead we focus on being proactive, make the best of situations, like that drinks with friends when you are starving and it’s mostly deep fried food on the menu. You could talk to the staff and see what they can do for you. You might be surprised at how accommodating places can be and what they can do that isn’t on the menu. All you have to do is ask.
Consider how much better you would feel if you tried the 80/20 rule when it comes to your health and wellbeing? Where 80% of the time you were experiencing success, feeling good, enjoying wholefoods, exercising, drinking enough water? That 80% may well just creep it’s way up to 85 or even 90%! Once you have that feeling of success you will want more of it.
Lastly, don’t be hard on yourself when you don’t get it right, focus on how many times you get back on the horse, it only needs to be one more time than the number of times you fell off! The more you get it right the more you will feel good and be motivated and focused on your end game.
